Sea tidings from Batavia, Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviasche koloniale courant dated 11 May 1810

An item dated Batavia 9 May reported that the government was unpleased when the tiding received that when 18 February the island Amboina surrendered to the British frigates Cornwallis (1) and Dover (2) the Dutch corvette Scipio (3 0was handed over to the British. The Dutch garrison was transferred to Samarang. Colonel Filz arrived at Batavia and handed over as criminal prisoner to the court martial.

1. Built as the Marquis Cornwallis by Jemsetjee Bomanjee, Bombay, India for account of the British East India Company in 1801, sold to the British Royal Navy in March 1805, registered as HMS Cornwallis on 13 August 1805, renamed HMS Akbar in February 1811 and finally sold in the 1860s.
2. Launched as Caron at the Bombay Dockyard, India for account of Bruce, Fawcette&Co., on 21 July 1792, sold to the British Royal Navy in 1805, renamed HMS Duncan and in 1807 HMS Dover, wrecked of Madras on 2 May 1811.
