An item dated Batavia 3 August reported that according to tidings received from Bantam the British warship and brig which captured the Lynx captain Brouwer, the schooner Phenix and a private owned brig and of which the inland personnel was embarked at Poeloe kalie send seven barges and launches on the morning of the 5th to the roads of Bantam. There was the unrigged French brig Amelie and a small government pantjallang both struck in the mud captured. Dutch soldiers recaptured the French brig although at 22.00 o’clock she was recaptured and burnt by British launches. Her commanding officer and crewmembers except for the helmsman managed to escape. A field gun managed to force the British launched to return resulting that the pantjallang was recaptured.
In the morning of the 6th was the British force still anchored off Bantam.
The 3rd arrived here at the roads [of Batavia ] two fala falas.
The 4th departed a Chinese junk towards the North, a paduakang to the West and further more arrived a private owned sloop.
The 5th departed from the roads a Chinese junk to the North.
The 6th departed the government brig Expeditie, the government schooner Carolina and two private owned paduakangs to the East. On the roads arrived a cartel ship coming from Malacca with on board Mr. Timmerman, two private owned brigs and a sloop coming from the East.
The 7th departed two paduakangs to the East and arrived a brig with as master former captain Boll coming from Soerabaja.
