Sea tidings from Batavia, Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviasche koloniale courant dated 8 March 1811

The 28th February departed a private paduakang and the brig and paduakang of the civilian De Bruijn towards the East.
In the night of the 4th March arrived the government paduakangs No. 1 and 13 followed by three gunboats coming from the West and in the evening arrived the British brig of war Baracuta and another ship. This brig brought a letter for the governor from rear admiral Drurij dated 18 January that the blockade of Java and the Moluccas was ended.
The 5th were the ships of the enemy out of sight.
Of the American ship the Rapid which was wrecked at the West coast of Nieuw-Holland on 7th January were all crewmembers saved. The all over burning wreck was the 8th left during heavy weather. The first officer with ten man was embarked on board of the large barge, the second officer, with the carpenter and four sailors on board of the small large both to Bali Strait where they arrived safely. The master, the ships’ clerk and three sailors used the heavy leaking small yawl (just 16 feet long) and finally arrived safely at Batavia.
