An item reported that at Ankara officially was announced that the Turkish steamship Jenidsje was torpedoed off Wassiliko underway from Burgas towards Istanbul and that she immediately sunk. Of the entire crew were just the captain and the first officer saved. She was not carrying any cargo. The Turkish cabinet ordered an investigation to what exactly happened. A Bulgarian vessel tried the aid the Turkish steamship despite the stormy weather. The Turkish captain stated afterwards that just before his ship was torpedoed he saw a periscope through his telescope. According to the newspaper was this the second time that a Turkish ship was torpedoed by Soviet submarines.
