USA uncertain about realizing naval program according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 12 October 1933

An item referred to an interview with the secretary of navy Swanson (1) at Honolulu when he arrived there for the fleet manoeuvres. He said that if the USA intended to complete the existing naval shipbuilding program there still 101 ships were to be build as allowed by the Naval Treaty of London.(2) Realizing however depended on the economic climate.
