American frigate ship Mississippi bound for Boston according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 30 July 1856

An announcement reported that the American frigate ship Mississippi captain John E. Allen was to depart Rotterdam on 20 August towards Boston. Fore more details could be asked at Wambersie&Crooswijck in Rotterdam.(1) The edition dated 10 February reported that she was lying in Rotterdam destined towards New York and Baltimore.

1. Emanuel Wambersie (11 October 1761 Gent, Belgium-6 October 1829 Aelter, Belgium) and Dionijs Burger jr. (26 January 1788 Rotterdam(-17 November 1860 Rotterdam) shipping agents firm Wambersie&Burger since 1 January 1821. After the death of his father became his son John (1806 Savannah, Georgia-19 February 1874) partner in the firm. Burger left the business on 31 January 1838. Emanuel and his son John were both consul for the USA in Rotterdam. Their (grand) son August Andrew (19 February 1835 Rotterdam) was vice-consul due to having the Dutch nationality. He became partner in the firm Wambersie&Zoon on 1 February 1858.
