Turkish navy commission visiting England according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 16 July 1938
An item dated Istanbul 14 July reported that a Turkish naval commission intended to visit London to ordered warships in England as a result of the recently signed agreements between Turkey and England. Except for the reinforcement of the Turkish fleet were 5.000.000 Turkish pounds out of the British loan to be used for the Turkish Black Sea naval base Tchatalagzi. The edition dated 11 August reported an item dated London 10 August reported the arrival of this commission with as head captain Halman. Seven days later was reported that 100 officers and sailors were coming to England for training during several months. This was needed regarded the Turkish orders for new building in England.
