French and British commander-in-chiefs discussing naval cooperation according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 30 June 1939

An item dated Singapore 29 June reported that the vice-admiral Decoux commander -in-chief of the French naval forces in the Far Easy stated that the French-British conference was a success and certainly would influence the balance of power in the Far East.(1) He expected that the French and British commander-in-chiefs would have regularly meetings.

Note
1. The edition dated the 20th already referred to a tiding Tokyo the 19th that the Japanese minister of navy admiral Yonai stated that even the rumours of a cooperation between the French and British navies were true Japan did not have to fear anything. Mitsumasa Yonai (2 March 1880 Morioka-20 April 1948) admiral, minister of navy 2 February 1937-130 August 1939 and 22 July 1944-1 December 1945 and prime minister in 16 January-22 July 1940. There is another interesting issue, namely the Dutch role in the Far East. See for instance the link http://warshipsresearch.blogspot.nl/2012/09/high-ranked-dutch-officers-in-non.html In 1942 was an allied squadron commanded by the Dutch rear admiral Doorman destroyed by the Japanese.
