Dutch naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Groninger courant dated 3 March 1854

An item reported that on 1 January 1854 the Dutch naval strength consisted of 2-84 gun ships of the line, 3-74 gun ships of the line, 4 frigates 1st class, 1 steam frigate 1st class, 8 frigates 2nd class, 1 rerazed frigate, 13 corvettes (one with steam), 9 brigs 1st class, 2 brigs 2nd class, 12 schooner brigs, 1 steam schooner brig, 7 schooners, 17 steamships, 3 steamships of the colonial navy, 2 transports, 44 gunboats large model, 12 gunboats small model and 2 gunboats in the Dutch West Indies, totally 141 units. Admiral was prince Frederik and prince Hendrik lieutenant-admiral and commanding the fleet. Further more were one vice admiral, 5 rear admirals, 21 captains and 30 captain lieutenants.
