Swedish-Norwegian naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper De Noord-Brabanter dated 14 January 1854

An item reported that the Swedish navy numbered 10 ships of the line, 8 frigates, 8 corvettes and brigs, 6 schooners, 8 mortar chaloupes, 256 gunboats and 12 armed steamships. End 1851 numbered the Norwegian naval force just 2 frigates, 4 corvettes, 1 brig, 5 schooners, 5 steamships and 136 gunboats for which 30.000 sailors (equal to the Swedish number) were engaged although just 10% was in actual service.
