An item referred to the magazine le Yacht which reported that at the shipyard at Gingal the gunboat Chaimite was built to serve on the river Zambesi. With a measurement of 340 ton were her dimensions 40,85 (between perpendiculars) x 8 (maximum) x 2 (aft) metres. The engine was to supply 500 hp allowing a speed of 11 miles. The armament was to consist of 2-4,7cm Hotchkiss quick firing guns and 2 Nordenfelt machine guns.
