Japanese trawler Shinkyo Maru discovered new promising fishing area northe west of Australia according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad 1935 no. 7
An item referred to the magazine Jap.Chr. dated 7 November 1935 which reported that Japanese trawlers intended to fish in the waters north west of Australia. This became possible due to subsidies of the Department for agriculture and forestry. While the fish population in the South Chinese Sea seemed to shrink sailed the trawler Shinkyo Maru of 450 ton to the area North West of Australia and achieved unexpectedly good results. He was now fitted out for a second voyage with the same destination.
