British submarine service further increased according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1906-1907 No. 5

An item referred to the magazine Mittheilungen a.d. G.d. S. reporting that the submarines requested in the British naval budget for 1906 were to have a speed of 10 (submerged)-18 (surfaced) miles. Range 600 miles. Horsepower 900 ihp. Six British war harbour were to be protected by submarines. Portsmouth remained main base with stations at Plymouth and Dover with another to be founded at the Nore. The cruiser HMS Bonaventure was to be converted into the third mother ship for submarines.(1)

1. Colledge claimed that she was converted in 1910 and broken up after October 1920. She was a 2nd class cruiser launched at the Devonport Dockyard on 2 December 1892.
