Dutch screw steamship Togian built for the Dutch shipping KPM at Schiedam according to the Dutch newspaper Schiedamsche Courant dated Saturday 18 January 1930

An item reported that on Thursday morning the ms Togian for the Dutch shipping company Koninklijke Paketvaart Maatschappij (K.P.M.) would be launched at the shipyard N.V. Werf Gusto v/h Firma A.F. Smulders. The edition dated 11 March reported that her official trial was on Saturday 8 March. She was the first ship of this company fitted out with a so-called Simplex patent-rudder allowing to steer the ship entirely by hand without the use of a steering apparatus. Afterwards handed over to the company.
