Smulders the single screw steamship Toradja was launched that afternoon for account of the for the Dutch shipping company Koninklijke Paketvaart Maatschappij (K.P.M.). She was built using the designs of the Ingenieursbureau voor Scheepsbouw M.A. Cornelissen also responsible for the supervision. Dimensions 61,87 x 10,36 x 3,81 (hold below upper deck). She was fitted out with a 8-cylinder MAN 500 ship diesel engine allowing a speed of 9,25 miles . She was the 4thof four ships built by Gusto for this company.
