Japan intended to built new submarine chasers according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1933 no. 5

An item referred to the magazine Revue Maritime dated July 1933 reporting that Japan intended to built submarine chasers with a displacement of 300 tons and as dimensions 64 x 5 x 1,50 metres. Their horsepower was estimated to be 3.400 hp allowing a speed of 24 knots. The armament consisted of machineguns and depth charges.
