An item referred to the magazine Mitteilungen a.d. G.d.S. reporting that the British shipyard of Vickers&Maxim in Barrow, Furness was building two submarines of the C type for Japanese account. The same shipyard was also building a transport resembling like a common merchant ship which was to transport both submarines towards Japan. Without using lifting devices she was able in loading or launching the submarines.(1)

1. The No. 8 and No. 9 were both launched on 19 May 1908 and stricken in 1928 and broken up. Building approved by the 1904 Budget and were identical to the British C-class submarines.
