Italian and Swedish submarines built by Italian shipyard Fiat at Spezia, Italy according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad 1907-1908 no. 8

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau dated 13 November supplying some details about the Italian submarines being built by the firm Fiat-San Giorgio at Genoa at their new shipyard at Spezia using designs of Laurenti. The same shipyard was at that moment building a submarine for Sweden.(1) In contrary to the common circular shape was she more torpedo boat shaped. The firm however guaranteed the she was still reliable with the pressure on 40 metres water.

1. The Hvalen. Budget for building was approved in 1907. Launched on 16 February 1909 and after she was stricken in 1919, sunk in 1924 when used as a target and afterwards broken up. Delivered on 9 July that same year departed she the 30th without any support towards Stockholm. In 1906 tried the Dutch shipyard De Schelde without success to obtain an order from Sweden to built a submarine of the Holland-design.
