British warships intercepting German tugs according to the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder courant dated 1 December 1919

An item dated London the 30th reported that British destroyers intercepted in the night before two German tugs and escorted them towards Dover. It was believed that they came from Kiel destined towards South America. On board were some German navy officers supposed to be submarine commanders of which the extradition was requested and now trying to escape. A second item however made clear that there were not such officers on board and that the tugs were intercepted while they left a German harbour without surveillance and pre knowledge.
