Building of frigate Minerva at Flushing ordered according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamsche courant dated 28 August 1804

An item dated Flushing the 20th reported that the Council of the Batavian Navy ordered the building of a 32 gun frigate at Flushing to be named Minerva.(1) This news was enthusiastically received by the population of Flushing according to the same newspaper. The newspapers Groninger Courant and Bataafsche Leeuwarder courant of the same date confirmed this item.
