French general Savary inspecting French-Batavia flotilla at Flushing, Nertherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Bataafsche Leeuwarder courant dated 24 January 1804

An item dated Flushing 12 January reported the arrival of the aide de camp of Napoleon general Savary (1) on the 10th and inspected the complete flotilla if needed giving new instructions. He ordered to fit out each vessel with a new gun. Accompanied by admiral Ver Huell (2) and general Poinsot (3) went he on board of the gun chaloupe lying on the roads for testing a 24pd gun. Twelve armed vessels performed their manoeuvres on the roads.
