German submarine U18 destroyed by British navy according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 24 November 1914

An item dated London the 23rd reported that a British patrol vessel rammed off the Scottish North coast the German submarine U18 causing her sinking. A second item reported that she after being rammed, came to the surface showing the white flag although she sunk within short notice. The torpedo boat Garry saved 3 officers and 23 men, just one crewmember drowned. The edition dated the 27th said that one German engineer stayed below to open the valves for scuttling her.
