Brazil wanted Japanese merchant ships in exchange for tobacco and so on according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland 29 August 1936

An item reported that the Japanese chamber of commerce was asked by Bahia, Brazil to exchange Japense railway shares and ships with a value of 5 milion yen for cacao, coffee, tobacco, wool and cotton.
