Dutch tug Oostzee 1892-1898 en French navy tug Taillebourg 1898-1933



Her building was together with that of her sister ship Noordzee in April 1891 ordered at the Dutch shipyard of L. Smit&Zonen, Kinderdijk, Netherlands. Their triple expansions engines (no. 121-122) of more as 800 hp and boilers were manufactured at the shipyard Kon. Mij. De Schelde at Flushing, Netherlands. Ordered on 4 May 1892, was the trial of the Oostzee performed on 29 June. These tugs were to be used as seagoing tugs and to assist steamships on the Waterweg. Dimensions were 39 x 7,10 x 2,92 (hold) metres. Sold in December 1898 for around 120.000 Dutch guilders and to be serve in the French navy with as homeport Rochefort. As the Taillebourg served she until 1933.
