Dutch tugs Donau, Gouwzee and Maas laid up according to the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder nieuwsblad dated 9 October 1931

An item reported that L. Smit&Co.’s Internationale Sleepdienst at Rotterdam decided to lay up on short notice the seaworthy tugs Donau, Gouwzee and Maas. The crews if not necessary elsewhere within the company were to be dismissed since 15 October. The officers received redundancy. This decision was caused by lacking enough orders and pessimistic prospects for the future while the British pound sterling was devalued.
