German-Far East shipping line operated by the Nord Deutschen Lloyd according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 9 March 1935

An item reported that the new fast ships Gneisenau and Potsdam of the Nord Deutschen Lloyd were to serve on the line Bremen-Shanghai. A voyage would take 34 days. In contrary to the past were the ships not calling at Rotterdam but at Antwerp on the outward bound voyage. On the outward voyage they would call at Rotterdam and not at Antwerp. The industrial products from the Rhine area destined for East Asia in the past loaded at Rotterdam were now loaded elsewhere.
