According to a news item dated Athens 27 September received the cabinet tiding that a revolt broke out on board of a part of the fleet although it was unknown which ships were involved. Measures were taken to maintain the calmness in Athens. Another Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland evening edition dated 27 September wrote that the cabinet retreated but it was unknown what was going in Greece and if Metaxas would accept the appointment as prime minister. The press association Reuter received a day earlier a telegram reporting that an airplane above Mytilene threw out proclamations signed by colonel Gonatas demanding that the king would abdicate. These proclamations were also thrown out above Larissa and Salonika and the attitude of the navy was unknown. The tiding that the ships joined the movement were not confirmed. A second telegram received by Reuter confirmed the involvement of partly of the fleet although the number of warships was not known.
