Prussian naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper De Tijd dated 16 July 1879

The Prussian navy included 6 armoured frigates and 15 protected corvettes or gunboats. There were two naval harbours namely Jahde and Kiel. Both harbours were protected by fortress with enormous armoured dooms and fitted out with heavy Krupp guns.
