The American, Greek and Turkish navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 8 March 1827

London, 2 March. The American squadron in the Mediterranean commanded by Joseph Rodgers consisted of the 74-gun North Carolina, the 44-gun Constitution, the 18-gun Ontario, the 18gun Warren and the 12-gun Porpoise. In January were in the United States 5 74 guns ships, 7 44-gun ships and 7 18-gun ships on stocks.

Paris, France 4 March. According to tidings from Constantinople dated 8 February was the Capitan Pasha to be relieved of his post. From Marseille, France came tidings that Lord Cochrane arrived with his ship Licorne [the Unicorn?]14 February at that port. Cochrane intended to travel over land to St. Tropez where the 18-gun brig le Sauveur built for him finally was completed. Both ships were to join each other in the harbour of St. Tropez and from there to depart for the Archipelago. The crews consisted of sailors coming from all countries and both ships were extremely well fitted out with war stores and victuals. Cochrane also brought 200.000 francs on board.
