For years was in the Netherlands a magazine published
dealing with maritime affairs in the whole world, navy and merchant.The Russian
navy in the Caspian Sea was divided in two squadrons, each commanded by a rear
admiral, with the supreme command by the admiralty at Astrakan. Both squadrons
consisted of 4 warships, 2 corvettes, 2 steamships and 20 flotilla vessels. Since the last war it was to intention to increase this
admiralty. At that moment were in this city 2 frigates and 5 corvettes with
steampower on stocks.
