The Egyptian and Turkish navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 2 September 1837

According to tidings from Smyrna dated 6 August were there continuously rumours that the Turkish fleet commanded by the Capudan Pasha passed these waters with the intentions to train the crews and to watch the Egyptian movements.
