The Greek and the Turkish navies according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 6 September 1825

Zante, 3 August. Early in the morning of the 1st was heavy gunfire heard and it was believed that the Greek and Turkish fleets were in battle. The last 3 days were continuous Turkish divisions passing while the Greek fleet was too weak for a real fight. Her strength was just 34 ships and had to be 85 and men were waiting for the arrival of the rest and admiral Miaulis. An Austrian brigantine of war reported that a Turkish attack at Missolunghi failed. According to a letter from Corfu dated 11 August both fleets did fight.

8 September 1825. Augsburg, 2 September. The newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung published a news item dated Trieste 24 August dealing with the second Turkish combined land-sea attack at Missolunghi 21 July or 2 August. The Turkish attacked from the seaside with 104 boats and floats while Miaulis who arrived with a Greek squadron burnt a frigate and 2 brigs while capturing 9 barks with troops on board. The Turkish Captain Pasha went afterwards to Patras and seemed to have left the waters of West Greece, although being sighted off Zante 6 August.
