In the harbours of France all efforts were done to fit out warships. In a letter dated the 12th from there were 5 smaller warships mentioned which were to join the French squadron off the Mexican coast. Also was referred to the rumours in Toulon that the French government indeed to strengthen her naval force in the Levant considering the possible hostilities between the Turkish and Egyptian navies.
