An item dated Den Helder the 14th referred to a tiding from Ramsgate reporting the arrival there of the Dutch screw steamship 4th class Zr.Ms. Amstel (1) returning from the Dutch West Indies with on board the crew of the in the West Indies condemned schooner Zr.Ms. Schorpioen.(1) The Amstel departed the Dutch West Indies on 28 December 1864 destined for the Netherlands

1. She was laid down in July 1859 at the shipyard of A. van Hoog, Amsterdam, Netherlands but completed elsewhere, launched in 1860, 1885 floating barracks, 1909 stricken and sold in 1910. Displacement 586 tons and as dimensions 38,00-40,70 (over all) x 8,16 x 3,20 metres. Horsepower 80 nhp or 200 ehp, an armament of 6 guns and a crew numbering 75 men.
2. Schooner 2nd class, on stocks at the navy yard at Flushing, Netherlands 9 May, launched 1 February 1847 and according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 17 January 1865 on the 15th decommissioned and to be sold on short time to be broken up. As dimensions 27,00 x 8,30 x3,20 metres, a 198 tons displacement and armed with 3 guns.
