German naval sergeant stayed behind when his ship SMS Wolf left Vlissingen according to the Dutch newspaper De Zeeuw dated 13 September 1887

An item reported that a sergeant of the German Imperial navy stayed behind at Vlissingen, Netherlands when his ship Wolf (1) left the harbour. Two days earlier he went with leave and when he returned was his ship departed. Lacking money he went to the police at Middelburg, Netherlands which brought him a day later to Goes and where he the next day was transported to the German frontiers.

1. A 1st class iron-built gunboat in 1878 At Wilhelmshaven, hulked in 1906 with a displacement of 561 tons and as dimensions 146’1” (waterline)-155’ (over all) x 25’2” x 11’2” and an armament of 2-12,5cm guns, 2-8,7cm guns and 2-3,7cm revolvers. Her crew numbered 85 men.
