The sailing ships of the government navy in the Dutch East Indies according to the Parliament Papers of 1880

An item discussed the sailing ships of the government navy although without supplying abundant details. The buoy layer of Batavia was in quite well condition. A second one for Riouw was now being built with a so-called kruisboot temporarily was used for this purpose. The strength of 51 kruisboten was reduced to 49. Three were added to the fleet namely the as steam ship condemned Bennett and 2 boast until then kept in conservation. On the other hand were 5 boats stricken, 3 permanently and 2 which worth to be repaired. Temporarily. One reserve boat temporarily commissioned for survey duties in the fairways of Surabaya just was done in 1877 with 2 other boats of the reserve. Since 1 September 1879 were these boats no longer needed and again laid up in conservation. In fact was at the end of 1878 a  strength needed of 64 kruisboten however on 31 December 1879 were there 63 while one of the boats used to support the resident of Japara was called back. On both time points was the navy so lacking respectively 13 and 14 of those small sailing vessels. In 1879 was also decided that the two boats used for the residence (station) Riouw were no longer to be armed but just advice boats.  The strength had to be 49 armed and 14 advice boats of which on 31 December were available respectively 39 and 10 boats.
