Dutch merchant ships Hector chartered for use as hospital ship for the second expedition to Bali, Dutch East Indies in 1848 according to the Geschiedkundige Geschriften dated 1867

For the second expedition against Bali, Dutch East Indies in 1848 were ten Dutch merchant ship and 12 Dutch Indies coastal vessels hired to be used as troop transports except fort the Hector which was to be used as a hospital ship. The high steerage supplied with gun ports was used as a comfortable, well lit and airy hospital room for the seriously ill men. In the cargo hold was a second deck made to store the magazines for arms, clothes and provisions, the pharmacy and for the less serious sick which was no space in the main hospital room. The cabin was fitted out for sick officers. Totally was space for 10 officers and 120-130 soldiers. Officer of health Wassink was responsible on board.
