German bark Theorie in problems due to fire outbreak while lying at Rotterdam, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Heldersche Courant dated 8 December 1869

An item referred to tidings dated Rotterdam, Netherlands the 4th reporting that that night around 03.00 o’clock fire broke out on board of the German bark ship Theorie from Bremen captain Helmers loaded with 215 small barrels of petroleum lying docked near the petroleum warehouses at Fijenoord. The fire was caused by an over heated stove. High tide was used to tow the ship away from the other ships and buildings in the neighbourhood.
