Mexican naval force conquered Yucatan according to the Dutch newspaper De Curacaosche courant dated 29 October 1842
An item reported that the Mexican expedition which left in the end of August Vere Cruz bound for Yucatan consisted of the schooner Liberty, the steamship City of Dublin, a brig of war, the iron-built steamship Guadeloupe, 2 bark ships and 2 schooners as transports with around 2.000 men troops. Begin September were at Laguna 1.300 men disembarked. Mexico managed to get the control over Yucatan. According to rumors were the Mexican vessels for the main part manned with American and British sailors and that all officers were British. Recently arrived 200 British sailors at Vera Cruz coming from England and paid in advance with the promise that their wages in the future also were paid in the same manner.
