Colombian corvette Herkules arrived at Venezuela according to the Dutch newspaper De Curacaosche courant dated 2 November 1822

An item referred to the newspaper Iris of Venezuela which reported that on the 24th [October?] the corvette Herkules arrived after a voyage of 15 days coming from New York, USA. She measured 500 tons and was armed with 22-32pd carronades and 3-12pd guns commanded by J.D. Daniels.A letter dated La Guayra. She was accompanied by the private owned brig Vencedor captain Kamnon. Their crews totally numbered 500 men. The corvette was accepted by the government and would probably be bought. A letter dated La Guayra 28 October reported also that the government bought the corvette and that there were also two British brigs bought in England. Another letter dated the 29th reported that a day earlier the Columbian flag was hoisted and that she would depart accompanied by the Vencedor searching for the Spanish enemy. The brig and the schooner Independence and the ketch were to be used for patrolling in the entrance to the bay of Maracaibo.
