Dutch States van Zeeland ordered on 9 August 1588 captain Merten Drooge to gather all available (war)ships to prevent Spanish shipping

The States of Zeeland ordered on 9 August 1588 captain Merten Drooge to gather all warships between Cleyenburch called Boeren Schantz and Vlissingen. All captains, lieutenants and other officers were to obey him. Drooge was to prevent all shipping of the [Spanish] enemy between Antwerpen, Sas (van Gent), Phlippinen, Sluys and other harbours.
