New frigate purchased in England for Colombian navy was disappointing according to the Dutch newspaper De Curacaosche courant dated 21 June 1823

An item referred to newspapers received from Caracas reporting the arrival at La Guayra last month of the frigate contracted by William Jones in England for account of the Colombian government. It seemed that the government was fro from content while the ship did not answer to the conditions of the agent. It seemed to be too short for her size and resembled more an aged East India man as a newly built vessel it claimed to be. It was much higher as the corvette Bolivar.
