England captured five Russian ships although afterwards crews and passengers were released according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsche courant dated 28 April 1854

An item dated Hamburg, Germany the 26th reported that British warships captured five Russian ships. Their crews were considered to be prisoners of war. They were released by the British ambassador after the Russian ambassador promised that during the war they would not serve in the navy. For the passengers on board of the ships was the same arrangement.

Note
1. At that moment was the Crimean war (4 October 1853-12 February 1856) going on in which the British and Russian empires were enemies.
