Austrian screw steam corvette Saida left Batavia, Dutch East Indies towards Singapore according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 20 August 1885

An item reported the departed the same day from Batavia, Dutch East Indies of the Austrian steam warship Saida captain Tayinz towards Singapore. The edition of the 4th reported her arrival on the 4th coming from Surabaya, Dutch East Indies. Her captain’s name is than spelled Fayenz.(1)

1. Screw steam corvette, laid down at the Pola Naval Yard [nowadays Pula, Croatia] in September 1876, launched on 2 July 1878, completed on 14 August 1879 and broken up in 1920. Originally armed with 11-15cm guns, 1-7,5cm landing gun to which later 2 machineguns were added.
