Argentinean dredger Don Ricardo underway from Netherlands towards Argentina according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Schiedamsche Courant dated 25 May 1908

An item reported the departure on last Saturday from the shipyard Gusto (firm A.F. Smulders), Schiedam, Netherlands of the suction- and press dredger Don Ricardo towards Buenos Aires, Argentina towed by the Dutch tug Poolzee of L. Smit&Co.’s Internationale Sleepdienst. . She was built for South American account. Dimensions 35 x 6,5 x 3 (hold) metres. Fitted out with 1-320 ihp main compound engine for the sand suction pump and an auxiliary 100 ihp compound engine for the centrifugal water pump. Further more three steam winches for all necessary tasks like lifting anchors and  pipes. Two boilers each with a heating surface of 90 square metres and 8 atmosphere pressure. Capacity of 500 cubic metres/hour and a suction depth of 12 metres below the waterline able to press the mud away over a distance of 500 metres and a height of 5 metres.
