Australian cruiser HMAS Sydney destroyed British steamship Buresk according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 27 November 1914

An item dated London, England 23rd reported that the Australian cruiser HMAS Sydney destroyed the new steamship Buresk of Burdick&Cook.(1) The Buresk was against the will of her captain used by the German cruiser Emden as a collier. Fr this purpose were some guns and a German prize crew taken on board. She was assured for 38.000 pond sterling.

1. Launched at the shipyard of Richardson, Duck and Company, Thornaby-on-Tees with yard number 638 on 25 March 1914 and completed in May. Also used by the Germans as a prison ship.
