Steamship Ajax deliberately stranded at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia being heavily damaged and leaking according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 5 June 1902

An item dated Liverpool, England 3rd reported that the steamship Ajax hit the reefs outside Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with as result a hole in the foreship with as result that the cargo holds 1 and 2 were filled with water, de aft holds and the boiler room stayed dry. She was deliberately grounded in the inner harbour of Jeddah.
