Dutch 5th charter Gaasterland 1688-1703

Of the admiralty Amsterdam, also called a 4th charter, built Hendrik Cardinaal (other sources claimed Jan van Rheenen) at the navy yard at Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1688, captured by France homebound with a convoy from St. Ubes (Portugal on 22 May 1703, dimensions (Amsterdam foot) 135 (prow) x 35 x 14, an armament of 46-52 guns (22-18pd guns, 22-8pd guns, 8-4pd guns) and a crew numbering 190-210 men. Worse built ship due too low situated gunholes. Commanding officers in 1689 captain Taalman, in 1691 captain Cornelis Draak and in 1703 commandeur Thys de Wit.
