British screw steam corvette HMS Danae left Surinam towards Barabdos according to the Dutch newspaper De West-Indiër dated 13 April 1873

An item reported the departure from Paramaribo, Surinam by the British frigate HMS Danaé commanded by Brown towards Barbados.(1)

1. A screw steam sloop of the Eclips-class laid down at the Portsmouth Dockyard in 1865, launched on 21 May 1867, completed in November 1867, rerated as a corvette in 1876, lent to the War Department in 1886 as a mine hulk and finally sold to be broken up on 15 May 1905. The armament consisted of 2-7” rifled muzzle lading guns and 4-6.3”/64 pd rifled muzzle loading guns.
