Dutch 8th charter or 2-mast snow Zephier/Zephir 1760-1783

Of the admiralty Maze, built by L. van Zwijndrecht at Rotterdam, Netherlands in 1760, sold in 1783, dimensions 94 x 26½ x 10 feet and an armament of 12-22 guns (12-6pd guns, 10-½pd swivels). Commanding officers in 1760-1762 captain J. van Gennep, voyage to Spanish Sea and North Sea, in 1763-1764, captain L.J. van Oijen, voyage to Berberice, in 1764-1765 captain L.H. van Oijen, voyage to Spain and Mediterranean, in 1767-1768 captain A. Loopuijt, voyage to Algeria and Mediterranean, in 1778-1779 captain A. Delvos, voyage to the Channel, Surinam and Demeraire, returned October 1799 at Hellevoetsluis, Netehrlands, fought homeward bound with a British privateer, surrendered when fire broke out, was allowed to continue the voyage when recognized as regular warship, in 1780 off Hellevoetsluis captain S. Rauws, in 1780-1791 captain M. Sonmans off Hellevoetsluis, in 1781-1782 captain A.M. Brunet de Rochebrune.
